Hey guys,

I'm new on this forum, but I've been in the online casino community since back when CasinoStreamer started streaming.
I work as software engineer, and I'm interested in how systems work. Obviously, having watched a lot of streams, and played a LOT of slots, I've been pondering how they might actually be working too.
I've glanced at some of the software used to write the OpenBET and GameART slots (some of the documentation used to be online).

What I'm wondering is if anyone here has any knowledge or info so that we could compile a thread of things we have learned, and theorize about the parts we haven't yet.

If there are any other programmers around, we could even maybe start a hobby project and try to write one.

Note, I mean the backend server software, not the frontend flash / js, that part is easy.

If anyone's interested in this sort of stuff let me know! :)

If you are interested in how slot machines work read this article. But basically they are based on Random Number Generator that "tells" the reels when to stop and therefore decides the outcome of the game.

I think this is used for most gambling softwares.

They use algorithms that are easily predictable, simple ones. But those algorithms are also depending on value of room temperature, room moisture, etc ( server rooms ) .. So thats why is impossible to predict outcome of games :D  Sorry for bad English

Hi all

Apologies for hijacking the thread, but I am looking for people to give their feedback on their online gambling experiences.

I have a short survey, where on completion you will be entered into a prize draw for £250 of Amazon gift vouchers.

I work for a user research company called The UX Agency and we are looking for users of gambling websites to take part in a survey in order to understand customer behaviour on various gambling sites to improve player experience.

If you're interested in taking part you can find the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/GamblingBehaviourResearch

At the end of this survey, you'll be given the option of participating in future gambling research, for which you will receive a cash incentive for participation.

Unfortunately, this survey is only available to UK residents. Please see our Terms & Conditions and our Data Protection Policy

A slot machine is the most advanced technology in the gaming arena, Here important points that players need to understand before embarking upon a slots session at a casino. The first of them is that your payout is always less than your odds of winning in a casinoslots , and the second point is that every time you spin the reels a random outcome will result.

Many people may get the impression that dropping this lever or pressing a button results in the wheel starting to spin, and this depends on the random fate where it stops. You wait for these 6 seconds and, based on the fact that the price is right, you just waited for the wheel to stop and where it will stop the computer, and then determines that the three cherries have risen, so you had to win. The same principle works for online slots in casino of this list. In fact, it's not how it works. The key to understanding how a gaming machine works is that there is a chip inside the gaming machine, called a random number generator or simply RNG. This RNG constantly unfolds random numbers. Hundreds and perhaps a thousand times per second, it simply generates a random number and unscrews it, and this number is not relevant to the previous number. The moment you press the button to rotate or pull the lever in a millisecond so that your finger touches the button and he presses it, it actually pulls the next three random numbers from this chip generator chip. On the reels of the slot machine there are many symbols on them. There may be 26 different characters, some of which are repeated. Each random number that has chosen maps for one of the symbols.

Just wanted to add something, not sure if that will be anything new. Many popular slots, from well established software developers are controlled by RNG-random number generator. Many people keep asking the same question if casino slots are scam. The answer to this question is not that simple. RNG is not about having an edge of the house over the player or vice versa. When developers release new games and wanted to partner with any online casino, they need to get a license and be approved by third party software testers to make sure they games are fair and random. When games are supplied to any online casino, casino doesn`t have an actual access to the source code which means online casino itself can not alter the code and RNG. This gives us an answer that many popular slots and casino games offered by top online casinos are not scam.

Another side of the coin is that, you might end up at the online casino operating without a valid license that offers slots and other casino games from shady casino games developers that never been tested or checked. This might give us a warning and something to think about that there is a possibility that some alteration with the source code might be happening since there is no party involved to check fairness of the games.

I think its a good idea, if you want to play slots or other casino games find well established casinos that run their games on such giants as NetEnt, Microgmaing, PlaynGo etc., These are the kings of the industry and they won`t mess around with their reputation. Thanks.

I apologize for responding to this topic after a long period of inactivity, but I want to express my own opinion.
I haven't played slots much, but I want to say that slot machines contain random number generators that can generate thousands of numbers per second. Whether you win or lose is determined by the random number generated in the exact instant you activate each play — if it matches a payline, you win.
I recommend that you follow a certain procedure before you start playing slots:
1. Choose the slots that have high payouts.
2. Choose the slots with the correct volatility level.
3. Choose the slot with the highest Return to Player.
4. Read reviews of the Slots on casino sites, forum, and Reddit.
5. Sign up to get a bonus with low wagering requirements.
This will increase your chances of winning something. Good luck!

It is all about casino RTP. If You fill one casino, the casino will return part of it one day back. It is not like You go and win big on new casino. If You play five casinos, always the one that was bad last times will give back one day ;) No big science out there ;) Good luck and play resposibly everyone ;)

House Edge: This is the built-in advantage that the casino has over players. It's a percentage that represents the expected long-term profit for the casino. Games like slots, roulette, and blackjack have their own house edges, ensuring the casino makes a profit over time.

Random Number Generators (RNGs): These are algorithms used to ensure the randomness and fairness of games. They generate random outcomes for each game, ensuring that results are unpredictable and not influenced by past outcomes.

Return to Player (RTP): Online casinos often display the RTP percentage for each game. This represents the expected return to players over time. For example, if a game has an RTP of 95%, it means that, on average, players can expect to win back $95 for every $100 wagered.

Game Rules: Each casino game has its own set of rules and payout structures. These rules determine how bets are placed, what constitutes a win, and how much is paid out for each winning combination.

Fair Play and Regulation: Online casinos are subject to regulations and auditing by independent authorities to ensure fairness and transparency in their operations. These checks help verify that the games are not rigged in favor of the casino.

In summary, online casinos rely on the house edge, RNGs, game rules, and regulations to ensure that they have a statistical advantage over players in the long run while maintaining fair and random outcomes for individual games.
